Debra and David first attended the RSS/SCU reunion at Bletchley Park on the 27th April 2003, which was held in Room Red One.
The meeting was superbly organised by Bob King (G3ASE) and his wife Jean with flawless teamwork. Bob was the host for the day, introducing the great and good from the world of wireless.
These meetings are held annually at Bletchley Park Mansion and are still well attended.

Nearly all the interviewees from The Secret Wireless War were there with their wives which added a dash of star quality to the proceedings and the subject of some good-natured banter.

The renowned Pat Hawker (G3VA) gave a fascinating slide show of WW2 equipment and the redoubtable David White (G3ZPA) demonstrated some of the rare SOE radio equipment from his excellent wireless museum.
Dave Williams (G3CC0) regaled us with some exiting WW2 anecdote and an absorbing and interesting account of his life and times.

There is a museum dedicated to the late Cyril Fairchild in Newhaven Fort, due to open later this year and Beryl, his daughter, attended on his behalf.
It was also an opportunity for Eddie Reade's daughter Diana Gibb to find out more about her Father's wartime activities from men who had known him and could identify precious photographs.

Everyone had a story to tell, from Geoffrey Pidgeon and Joyce Lilburn in SCU to Bob King and Gerry Openshaw in RSS. It was a wonderful and humbling experience to listen to these men mention so casually their part in a terrible and important time in our history - to banter about events that most of us only learn about in history books because they were there, they were part of it all in many different ways. They helped turn the tide of war to victory.

The reunions for the RSS/SCU are held annually and Bletchley Park, and the SCU/DWS reunions are held more frequently at Stony Stratford. For more information you can contact Bob King: mail@bob2king.plus.com and for SCU you can contact Geoffrey Pidgeon: geoffrey.pidgeon@virgin.net
